Description

Imaged Venus on the evening of July 30, 2023 (7/31 in UTC).  Venus had a diameter of 53.5" and was 5.6% illuminated.  This was my last capture for this apparition of Venus.  By the time I located Venus in the dusk sky it was right at the treeline and I only managed one useful capture under poor seeing conditions.  A later attempt at daytime imaging netted some nice sunspot captures during initial alignment, but was alas not successful for finding Venus.  It has been a fun project tracking the progression of Venus from March until nearly August this spring/summer...

Imaged with a C8 Evo, Siebert 2x barlow, ZWO ADC, Baader IR 685nm pass filters, and ZWO ASI174MM. Imaging train was configured to give me ~F/20 (FL=4000 mm). Image capture using Firecapture with the following gain/exposure settings:  g=275, 1.5 ms.  Stacking in AutoStakkert3 (best 5% of 5000 frames captured over ~180 seconds. De-rotated a single sub image in WinJupos.
